Nashville's mayor needs help and Emmylou and Kix are just the people to give it to him.
Mayor Karl Dean has put together a 46-member Music Business Council which the mayor says will help keep the Nashville's "Music City" moniker intact. And what better way to ensure things go right than to get two music greats on board. That's where Emmylou Harris and Kix Brooks come into play – they've both signed on to be part of the mayor's special panel.
The panel is expected to advise on initiatives including the construction of a downtown amphitheater, the expansion of the CMA Music Festival, the creationof a new, non-country festival and the enhancement of music education.
